As with every sector of the food industry, packaging techniques for wine are also evolving. Due to environmental, economic and ecological pressures, the glass bottling techniques currently in use will change rapidly in order to adapt to new realities. Technological innovations are coming to the fore that offer excellent wine preservation, but with a more environmentally friendly and practical approach.
This evolution is not surprising. Over the past 5,000 years, wine has come in leather pouches, amphoras of sandstone or ceramic, and finally glass bottles. The 21st century is ripe for change.
