Chardonnay is simply the best-known grape in the world. Originally from Burgundy, it is used in the production of great appellations like Côte d’Or and Chablis. Capable of adapting to a wide range of climates, a feature that makes it one of the so-called “universal” grape varieties, Chardonnay produces good wines wherever it is grown, from Spain to California and from Chile to Australia — where it has become the benchmark of the down-under vineyard.
